MARYVILLE GUARDIAN MEDALLION AWARD GALA RAISES OVER $150,000 FOR CRISIS NURSERY
Gala honored George W. Rourke for his decades of service to children and celebrated Maryville’s 125th anniversary
Maryville held its 2nd annual Guardian Medallion Award Gala on April 12 at the Drake Hotel, celebrating Maryville’s 125th anniversary and honoring George W. Rourke, of Lincolnwood, with the Guardian Medallion for his decades of selfless service on behalf of children. The event, Maryville’s largest annual fundraiser, garnered more than $150,000 in net proceeds for its Crisis Nursery.
The Gala was a rousing success, with over 420 people in attendance and 26 event sponsors, hosted by Gala Co-Chairs John and Mary Madden, of Northfield, and Chuck and Janie Walsh, of Lake Forest. Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner, silent and live auctions, and dancing to the music of Bob Filler Orchestra. The proceeds from this year’s event are directed to the Maryville Crisis Nursery, which Rourke and his family have played an instrumental role in building support for since its opening in July 2006. The Crisis Nursery, the first and only service of its kind in the Chicagoland area, provides short-term emergency shelter for infants and toddlers and counseling and support for their families.
At the event, Rourke, President of Venterra Sales and Management in Chicago, was celebrated for his lifetime of dedication and service to Maryville’s mission of caring for children. He has been involved with Maryville for three decades, serving on the Board of Directors since 1985. During that time, he provided guidance as Chairman of the Board and Chairman of Finance Committee for a number of years, and he continues to lead as Chairman of the Real Estate Committee and as a Board Member for the Maryville Golf Academy.
