Everyone has something to give.
How appropriate it is to be reminded of this truth in this season. Christmas is a time in which we recall the Gift of Jesus. Our own sharing of gifts is a way to celebrate this Scripture message. In this Christmas season, I am inclined to think about the many ways friends and donors give to our children. We are blessed by their generosity throughout the year and by their special gift-giving at Christmas.
My purpose in writing this message is to tell you that our children at Maryville Academy also have been giving during this Christmas season. They too wanted to help others in need at this Christmas time. So some of our children visited residents in a women’s shelter and other children visited residents in a nursing home. Before the visits, the children made Christmas cards and flowers which they gave to the residents. On Christmas Eve, some of our children are visiting residents in another nursing home.
This Christmas, I am trying to be more mindful of the gifts our children give. Perhaps you would like to share the story of a child who has given time or talent to others. You can respond to this blog with your story.
