Meet Tina*: Tina, a young mother, called the Maryville Crisis Nursery one evening looking for someone to watch her 3 young children because she was going into labor with her fourth child. Tina was scared and anxious because she had no support system and felt all alone during her time of need. She had no one to go to for help.
The Maryville Crisis Nursery was able to care for Tina's three young children while she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Since giving birth to her new son, Tina has been trying to further her education and career for both herself and her family. She has used the Crisis Nursery's services so that she could take an exam in order to obtain her GED. Tina passed her exam and has now earned her GED!
A few weeks later, Tina was able to enroll in college and she has utilized the services provided by the Nursery again in order to take a college enrollment and placement test. Tina will soon begin college and plans on working towards getting her teaching degree. Additionally, Tina used the community referrals provided by the Crisis Nursery to find daycare for her youngest children so that she can attend college fulltime.
She is appreciative for the support provided by the Maryville Crisis Nursery, and is grateful that not only has the Nursery provided her with caring child care for her children, but also that their support afforded her the opportunity to improve her family's quality of life.
*Tina is not her real name.
