Becoming a Volunteer

When you volunteer with Maryville children and families, you will be given the opportunity to inspire others to break through personal barriers and reach their fullest potential.

Mentor and Tutor

Mentors and tutors offer Maryville youth the opportunity to develop supportive and trusting relationships with an adult.  Youth in the programs benefit socially and emotionally by having a special person show care and concern for them.  Tutors can help with homework and assist our youth in reaching their academic potential.  Mentors visit one-on-one with the youth on site or may participate in structured group activities and commit to visiting weekly or bi-weekly with their special youth.

Childcare Volunteers

Volunteers help staff provide quality care to children six years and under.  Volunteers provide an extra pair of hands during a teen mom’s study or therapy time.  The children the volunteers provide support to are the children of our teens living in Maryville programs, or the children that are staying for short term care at the Crisis Nursery.

Special Events

If you or your organization would like to do something to benefit a Maryville Program we are open to your ideas.  Some possibilities include:

o       Host a holiday party

o       Sponsor a fundraiser

o       Provide gifts for birthdays/Christmas or “Point Stores”

o       Invite our youth to a special event

o       Donate admissions to events and activities in the Chicago area

o       Serve at a Maryville event

Application Process

Screening and orientation take approximately 2 to 4 weeks.

Volunteers must be 21 years of age to work directly with teens or 18 years of age to work with young children.
