Maryville MISA Program

Providing specialized residential treatment for youth with mental illness and a substance abuse problem

Maryville Academy's MISA Program is a specialized residential treatment program for adolescent boys, ages 13-18, with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance use disorder.  These co-occurring disorders are often difficult to diagnose and, unless they are treated simultaneously, one condition may worsen while the other improves.  Maryville Academy looks at each person individually and develops a customized treatment plan.

Testimonial

"Maryville's MISA program gives our office a last, best chance to help a young offender turn his life around. These kids come to our office after committing a crime, but they are wrapped up in a vicious cycle of mental illness and drugs, an explosive and confusing mix. MISA (mentally ill, substance abuse) gives these young men a chance through structured guidance that can turn them away from a life of crime, fueled by drugs and complicated by the co-morbidity of mental illness. If it weren't for MISA, these kids would be in prison."
