Mentor Program
Mentors offer Maryville youth the opportunity to develop supportive and trusting relationships with an adult. Youth in this program have minimal or no family contact and would benefit socially and emotionally by having a special person from the outside show care and concern for them. Mentors visit one-on-one with the youth on site or may participate in the structured group activities. Mentors commit to visit weekly or bi-weekly with their special youth.
Tutor Program
Many of our youth have missed out on educational opportunities due to having moved frequently, impoverished backgrounds, delinquency, and/or learning disabilities. Tutors can help youth with homework and help them reach their academic potential.
Daycare Assistants
Assistants help staff provide quality childcare to children five years and under. Assistants provide an extra pair of hands during moms’ study or therapy time. The children are
those of the teens living in Maryville programs or are children from the community that are staying for short-term care at the Crisis Nursery.
Therapeutic Arts Assistant
Some of our youth with developmental challenges need a little extra help to express their creativity and emotions through art. Assistants provide extra support during art therapy sessions. (Eisenberg Campus only)
Thrift Store Sales Associate
Sales Associates provide customer service, process donations, and maintain the order of the store. Proceeds from the thrift store support the Maryville Crisis Nursery.
Guest Speaker
A guest speaker may provide one or two sessions on a particular topic that fits into our Life Skills Curriculum. For example, you may offer a financial workshop for teens, career planning, teach a dance, demonstrate an art, and share whatever your particular area of expertise to enable our youth to expand their horizons and skills.
Special Events
If you or your organization would like to so something to benefit a Maryville Program we are open to your ideas. Some possibilities are:
• Host a holiday party
• Sponsor a fundraiser
• Provide gifts for birthdays/Christmas or the “Point Stores”
• Invite our youth to a special event
