Make a difference in the life of a child… Volunteer!
When you donate your time with Maryville children and families, you will be given the opportunity to inspire others to break through personal barriers and reach their fullest potential. Our volunteer needs include the following positions:
Mentor and Tutor
Mentors and tutors offer Maryville youth the opportunity to develop supportive and trusting relationships with an adult. Youth in the programs benefit socially and emotionally by having a special person show care and concern for them. Tutors can help with homework and assist our youth in reaching their academic potential. Mentors visit one-on-one with the youth on site or may participate in structured group activities and commit to visiting weekly or biweekly with their special youth.
Volunteers help staff provide quality care to children six years and under staying for a short term at the Crisis Nursery. Volunteers can also assist at the Children’s Healthcare Center, which provides care for medically fragile children ages birth to twenty-one.
Application process, screening and orientation take approximately 2 to 4 weeks.
Volunteers must be 21 years old to work directly with teens or 18 years old to work with young children.
If you or your organization would like to volunteer to benefit a Maryville Program, we are open to your ideas. Some possibilities include:
- Host a holiday party
- Sponsor a fundraiser
- Provide gifts for birthdays/Christmas or to our “Point Stores” that provide merit-based gifts for our children
- Invite our youth to a special event
- Donate admissions to events and activities in the Chicago area
- Serve at a Maryville event
