In May, we held our latest Parent Cafe supporting Spanish-speaking families at our partner school, Belmont Cragin Early Childhood Center. Our Parent Cafes are a place where parents have the opportunity to connect with one another, share their experiences as parents, and participate in meaningful discussions about how to keep their families safe and strong. Parents of families who attend Parent Cafes are invited to accept leadership roles as cafe co-hosts.
Co-hosts develop new skills, while planning for and leading classes, which will help them become stronger leaders within their own families. One of our moms who volunteered to co-host the meeting in May came to the Crisis Nursery a week prior to plan the class together with our staff. She did an excellent job being the co-host of the cafe.
This mom hopes to continue to help in the future with planning and assisting in any way possible with our parenting classes. We have enjoyed seeing her increased involvement and her development into an inspiring role model for the other parents in the class.
What a powerful way to help families — offering opportunities to step into leadership roles and investing in the welfare of our children and our communities. We hope to continue to provide parents the opportunity to grow and shine.
